The owner of the restaurant, who became obsessed with the charms of Spain after majoring in Spanish during his college years, was in charge of the renovation of his Spanish bar. It is a historic restaurant that has been challenging the bar format since before “bar” became popular. The project is also very special to us in the sense that it is the first design project for “vi-no,” as well as in the sense that we are friends who play together in the city.

We designed this bar not only as a restaurant, but also as a space, taking into consideration the owner’s love of not only food but also Spanish music and his activities as a DJ in the city. The design incorporates not only food and beverage, but also functions to hold music events and various other events to express the world of Spain. The details express the local atmosphere with food and music as the main source.

All hardware, such as shelf brackets, handles, and footrests, were custom-made to the original design. White artificial marble was selected for the countertop to create a sense of cleanliness and spatial power in the same room. Spanish patterned tiles were used for the hanging wall above the counter, and the tiles engraved with the name of the restaurant at the entrance were purchased in Spain by the owner. The red color, which evokes the passion of Spain, is painted only on the ceiling, and the light from the original FRP red lamp shade slightly envelops the entire space, creating a unique atmosphere as a bar.

In addition, by dividing the counter seating into two sections, not only is the situation divided, but the cooking space on the operations side and the service that can accommodate various events are also realized. The first “vi-no” designed store, which embodies the owner’s love and passion for Spain with both a world view and functionality, is still loved by the town more than 15 years after its renovation.
