A trattoria with the name “center of the typhoon” has opened in Ikawadani, a suburb of Kobe City. Taking advantage of its location on a local street, the restaurant’s concept is to maintain an unpretentious, casual atmosphere, but with a design that brings Italian culture as a breeze.

The pizza oven is a white mortar representation of a map of Japan as seen from Italy, and the counter is made of clean artificial marble, creating a unique space that harmonizes Italy and Japan. Wood is used in key areas to add warmth, and FRP-made, custom-made pendant lights accent the space to provide a high quality, yet relaxed experience.

The counter seating is designed with lounge chairs with armrests to soften the casual atmosphere and accommodate a more relaxed dinner. The hall seating, with a wooden pergola on the ceiling, creates a sense of openness similar to terrace seating, even though it is indoors. In contrast, the bench seating in the back has a lower ceiling height and incorporates restaurant bench seating to accommodate a variety of situations. The zoning of the different materials and concepts are combined with a unified tone to create a unique and contradictory space that is like a family restaurant where a variety of people can gather, but is also a high-quality trattoria.
