Impressed by the encounter with the Republic of Latvia, the owner took the opportunity of relocating from Sakae-machi to Suma to reopen a general store in order to introduce Latvian culture in Kobe. As a design consultant, we supported the owner, who has authored a book “The Latvia I Want to Take Home” and is actively involved in exchange with Latvia, in recreating his unique world view and passion.

The interior furnished with vintage furniture creates an atelier atmosphere, and the rustic design of the iron brackets and white walls complement the products and bring warmth to the space. The space is accented with arched openings that connect the sales floor and stockroom. We also handled other highly specialized work such as restroom remodeling and signage production. Through a series of meetings, we were able to accurately draw out the owner’s wishes and express her unique worldview. The furniture layout and other details were also directed in detail, and we worked to embody the atmosphere of Latvia and the owner’s passion.
